Over the last 12 months, the Association for Church Editors has been seeking out some of the best church magazines in the country. The 2009 Awards Scheme concluded with a presentation to the successful editors at a ceremony held on Saturday 16th May 2009, at the Methodist Central Hall, Westminster. (Read Rev’d Martin Turner’s Keynote address).
Over the years the scheme has developed from a competition into a series of awards that are aimed at recognising the achievements of editors in the most important features that lead to a well-produced magazine.
The primary aim of the Awards Scheme is to celebrate excellence and, in so doing, encourage other editors, so that they might feel motivated to improve their own magazine in the light of what can be achieved through creativity, attractive design, improvements in technology and dogged determination (especially in the pursuit of enhanced funding and other additional resources!).
Awards Criteria
Separate awards were made according to six criteria:
The ACE Awards Scheme 2009 was open to anyone producing church newsletters and magazines, irrespective of denomination.
We hope to hold another Awards Scheme in the near future - probably dedicated to those editors working on a budget of less than £300 per edition.
Please keep an eye on this website for further updates.
