WINNER

Magazine: “Impact”
Woodseats & Beauchief, Sheffield
Editor:  Tim Hopkinson

For a clear and straight forward magazine design, with a consistent look and feel throughout, particularly in terms of the banner headlines and the use of body text wrapping around graphical elements. This created an appealing magazine layout despite a modest production budget.

Magazine: “Magazine and Plan”
Shebbear Methodists, Devon

Editor:  Maureen Ellis

For good use of intriguing headlines combined with visually varied typefaces, to draw the reader in and encourage exploration of the content of each article.

Overall Magazine Layout:
Highly Commended

Magazine: “Village Tribune”
Deeping Gate, Etton, Glinton, Helpston, Maxey & Northborough.

Editor:  Tony Henthorn

For the disciplined and easy-to-navigate layout, coupled with strong black-on-white text, which creates a very pleasing impression. The design is well complemented by graphical elements, to create visual interest, including white-text on black text boxes.

Effective Use of Graphics: WINNER

Magazine: “Beverley Minster
                   Parish Magazine”

Editor:  Mervyn King  (see picture)

Truly impressive use of photographs and other graphic elements to bring this magazine very visually alive.  We were particularly impressed by the Passion Play 2008 page (see below). Excellent stuff!
